Natasha Hurst @ Lunch - City Library

The essence of Singer/Songwriter Natasha Hurst’s songs lay within her poetic lyric.  With stories crafted around deep emotionally charged melodies she has been described as an artist with "an incredible vocal strength and rawness that is soulful, honest, brave, heartfelt and distinctively unique".  Natasha’s non conformity is clearly shown in the eclectic mix of her original compositions and whilst the majority of her songs are biographical, others fall more into the category of idealism, reflecting elements of perception and intuition spreading messages of peace, compassion and inspiration in the hopes of manifesting a higher level of consciousness and spiritual awareness.

Sat 6 December, 12 - 1pm Andrea-Camelliri-June-1.gif The Brand New Companions @ East Melbourne Library
The Brand New Companions are an orginal bluegrass inspired outfit with Andre Camilleri on acoustic guitar and vocals,  Chris Birnie on double bass and Mark diMazio on a number of acoustic string instruments. What started as a bit of fun on the side has quickly become an important outlet for Andre's quieter, story driven tunes and another great addition to Melbourne's Country scene in the process. Influenced by the likes of Gillian Welch, Townes van Zandt and Steve Earl BNC add their own character to this often misunderstood genre. Their first album will be released later in the year.

Fiona-Magee_Acoustica.gif

Fiona Magee @ Lunch - City Library
Fiona Magee says that “without music, life would be a mistake” describing music as the one thing that keeps her sane.  Influenced by contemporary folk, blues and acoustic artists like Missy Higgins, Jen Cloher, Tegan & Sara and Holly Throsby this teenager has adopted a style not often encountered in someone of her vintage.  At seventeen, Fiona has already begun turning heads on her local scene on the NSW Central Coast appearing at such high profile events as CoastFest, Brackets & Jam, GOATS Festival, and Girltalk.  This year Fiona has been concentrating on completing her Higher School Certificate but is set to release her long awaited debut EP in 2009.  Look out for Fiona Magee she has a huge musical career ahead of her.
